A certificate authority (CA) is the company that issues SSL certificates. Symantec, Thawte, GeoTrust, RapidSSL, Certum, and Comodo are all CAs, for example. In fact, we are a reseller of these CAs, which means that we are able to offer exactly the same certificate that you will get by buying directly from CAs themselves, but at much lower prices. We are connected to the APIs of these CAs, which allows us to offer the same products. Because we buy in bulk, we are able to offer the certificates with a significant discount that you see. We also offer dedicated SSL support for each certificate we offer and can help you through the entire process, from purchase to generation, from issuance to installation and more.
All of the Certificate Authorities (CAs) we offer certificates are leaders in the industry and inspire confidence around the world. Symantec is the largest CA in the world and its Norton Trust Seal is the most trusted symbol of trust on the Web. Their name definitely adds the greatest value of any certification authority in the industry. In addition, GeoTrust, Thawte, RapidSSL, Certum and Comodo are all reliable and secure CAs.
An SSL certificate guarantee covers any damage you may incur as a result of a data breach or hacking that has been caused due to a defect in the certificate. Guarantees vary in value, which means that higher value certificates come with more extensive warranties.
How long are your SSL certificates valid? This largely depends on the type of certificate you have purchased and your response times. Regardless of the type of certificate you purchase, the Certificate Authority (CA) will contact you directly and only follow the next steps on your answer. For certificates validated by domain (DV), these can usually be delivered in minutes to a business day. For validated organization certificates (OVs), these tend to take around 2-3 working days to issue. And for Extended Validation (EV) Certificates, these usually take between 3 and 5 business days to issue.
In addition to that, our SSL Certificates can be valid from any date for 1 to 3 years, depending on the certificate you choose to purchase. EV certificates can only be issued for a maximum of 2 years. Symantec’s DV and OV certificates, GeoTrust, Thawte, Comodo, Certum and RapidSSL can be issued for up to 3 years.
You can use an SSL certificate to cover an internal domain if it is an officially registered domain (a publicly available FQDN). If the internal domain is not a delegated domain and registered, the certificate will not be issued.
This is the difference between key lengths used once an SSL connection has been established by the browser. 256-bit security is indeed a key more important and therefore safer than the 128-bit one.
This largely depends on the type of multi-domain SSL certificate you purchase. Multi-Domain Comodo certificates can cover up to 250 additional domains. Symantec and Thawte certificates can cover up to 25 additional domains. GeoTrust Multi-Domain certificates can cover between 25 and 250 additional domains, depending on the certificate.
